a professional urban planner with 23 years of experience spanning the public, private, and non-profit sectors of the planning and public administration disciplines, sarah has been certified by the american institute of certified planners (aicp) since 2008. she has worked in the bay area since 2012, serving the past seven years in senior management and executive-level positions with various bay area jurisdictions, making her exceedingly well-versed in the needs of california local governments.
sarah has written hundreds of technical documents for local agencies, including numerous staff, board, commission, and council reports, ordinance updates (e.g., zoning ordinances, subdivision ordinances, sign ordinances, etc.), resolutions, recitals, findings, letters, memos, and presentations, and is exceptionally adept at communicating complicated, technical information to non-technical, lay audiences. she has also written numerous successful grant applications securing over $10 million in funding for local agencies across the country.
former employers include the city of glasgow, scotland, the detroit economic growth corporation, the public building commission of chicago, the city of san josé, the city of milpitas, the city of santa cruz, and the town of hillsborough, california. she is well known and well respected in the field, both for the quality of her work and the quality of her character.
sarah holds a masters degree in urban planning & policy from the university of illinois, chicago, and a double major in geography and urban studies from wayne state university in detroit. she also holds a certificate in advanced grant writing from the university of georgia. she lives in the city of san francisco with her dog, maxwell, and enjoys farmer's markets, drag shows, and the occasional ketel one and soda with lime.
